Dr. Renqvist’s Credentials

Dr. Renqvist

My clinical experience includes working with adults across the lifespan in diverse settings, such as outpatient and residential treatment centers, college counseling services, and Veterans Affairs hospitals.

I have had the privilege of supporting individuals and couples from a wide range of religious, gender, sexual, racial, and cultural identities improve the quality of their lives and relationships.

Education

I completed my bachelor’s degree in psychology at Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg, Virginia. Afterward, I moved to Reno, Nevada to complete my master’s and doctoral degrees in psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Completing a doctoral degree in psychology requires a yearlong internship similar to the residency required for medical degrees. For this final year of pre-doctoral clinical training, I moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to do a year of clinical training at the Pittsburgh Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System. During this year, I obtained training in integrating mental health within primary care clinics, general mental health, and therapy and cognitive testing for older adults and caregivers.

It is common for psychologists to spend the year after graduation pursuing additional training. I chose to remain with the Pittsburgh VA for a postdoctoral fellowship focusing on interprofessional care (integrating mental health in a primary care setting).
