Couple Therapy
Over time, many couples develop communication problems that cause them to get stuck in recurring disagreements. Over time, this can result in emotional and physical disconnection. I help couples figure out where and why they are getting stuck and how to get unstuck.
Common issues for couples I help include differences in personality, preferences, values, or beliefs, different views on how to approach life stresses like parenting, finances, work, and family issues, and repairing broken trust.
Couple therapy can be very effective at helping partners move forward and grow closer together. If both partners wish to reconnect and grow together, I can help you rekindle your connection, no matter the distance.
Couple therapy starts with a comprehensive assessment, after which I present partners with my observations about the sources of the problems or concerns and propose solutions. During couple therapy sessions, I help partners break the patterns that are hurting the relationship and rebuild emotional and physical intimacy.
Therapeutic Approach
The approach I used is based in Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT) and Emotion-Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) in couple therapy. These approaches focus on identifying problematic communication patterns and assisting couples to see and interrupt the patterns causing their distress and create a better understanding of each other. Understanding each other creates the foundation for deeper emotional and physical intimacy.
I offer couple therapy online in 43 US states and DC (all stated except Alaska, California, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Vermont).
