As therapists in private practice, it can be difficult to figure out how to be of the most help to clients with complex histories, symptoms, or life circumstances on our own. Personal and environmental stressors can impact our ability to be present in the room with clients. We all need support and consultation from time to time.
My consultation services are designed for independently licensed mental health professionals who want thoughtful, grounded support and validation without entering a supervisory relationship. As a colleague, I can help you process and identify new approaches to take when you are feeling stuck with a particular client or couple or process and manage personal stressors or reactions to experiences with clients that may interfere with your quality of life or being the most therapeutic version of yourself in the room.
To stay aligned with Virginia (my home state) regulations and protect both of us, consultation is intentionally distinct from supervision.
